Aims
The journal’s main objective is to promote understanding of mechanisms, processes and interactions of agroecosystems functions with the environment and human life, within the broader field of applied life sciences. In this context, ALSE publishes novel research at different scales, e.g. laboratory, field experiments, case studies or investigations at and landscape level. The journal publishes mainly original research articles intended for a graduate, post-doctoral, and/or professional research audience. ALSE supports scientific contributions that promote sustainable agriculture, environmental management, food and resource security, and improvements in the quality of life across both rural and urban communities. The journal seeks to serve an international audience of researchers, professionals, educators, and decision-makers involved in agriculture, the environment, food systems, and life sciences.
Scope
The journal welcomes original research articles, critical reviews, and applied studies that demonstrate scientific rigour, a sound methodological base, and ethical integrity. ALSE encourages submissions that address both theoretical frameworks and real-world applications, particularly in the context of sustainable development.
The thematic coverage includes, but is not limited to, the following core areas:
Agricultural Sciences and Agronomy
Crop production, soil science, precision farming, irrigation, agroecology, plant protection, and agricultural technologies
Horticultural and Landscape Sciences
Open-field and greenhouse horticulture, ornamental plants, urban green infrastructure, viticulture, and biomass valorisation
Animal Science and Veterinary Health
Animal breeding, nutrition, behaviour, welfare, livestock management, veterinary diagnostics, and zoonotic risks
Food Science and Agro-food Technology
Food processing and packaging, safety management, quality control, agro-biotechnologies, and microbial contamination
Environmental and Resource Management
Climate change adaptation, water and soil resource management, waste treatment, circular economy, and sustainable land use
Ownership and Management
ALSE is published by IULS, Romania, which serves as both the journal’s owner and official publisher. All editorial and technical operations are conducted by academic staff affiliated with IULS; the journal has no affiliation with any commercial publisher.
The journal is coordinated by the Editor-in-Chief, who manages the editorial process in collaboration with the editorial team. An international Editorial Board contributes academic guidance and may be consulted on specific manuscripts.
ALSE is published quarterly, with issues scheduled for release in March, June, September, and December. The journal follows a continuous publication model, meaning that accepted articles are added to the current issue as they are finalised. Each issue contains 10 articles.

All articles are archived through:
- CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) for decentralised digital preservation;
- The Institutional Repository of the Iași University of Life Sciences: RIULS (https://repository.iuls.ro);
- Crossref through DOI registration for persistent citation and metadata distribution.

How to Track Citations
- Authors and readers can monitor citations of ALSE articles by using public platforms such as Google Scholar, where article titles or DOIs may be searched directly.
- The journal also monitors citations through the Crossref “Cited-by” feature.
- ALSE recommends that authors create or link in their profiles (e.g., ORCID, Google Scholar, ResearchGate) to track citations of their publications.
- For broader impact visibility, researchers can also consult Dimensions AI Topic Refine and other open scholarly databases.
ALSE does not accept advertising and does not engage in direct marketing campaigns targeting readers or authors. Any communication about the journal is factual, transparent, and not misleading.

The journal promotes international authorship and transparently displays author affiliations in each article. Periodic monitoring shows diversity in contributions, including international authors from various institutions and regions. Based on submission data from the ScholarOne Manuscripts system (hosted by Clarivate and operated by Silverchair), ALSE receives manuscripts from authors across more than 30 countries and regions.
